At Altin, we know that for a house to be your home, the local community is just as important as the building itself. Our Bank Farm Grove homes are located a short walk to the centre of picturesque Cheshire village, Holmes Chapel – a place perfect for families.

If you’re looking for village life that’s not too far away from big cities, with excellent transport links, a selection of top-rated schools, and a tight-knit community, Holmes Chapel might be the place for you.

Family life

Holmes Chapel is regularly named as one of the best places for families to live in England and Wales when considering official statistics such as Ofsted reports, crime rates, house prices and average salaries.

Schools contribute heavily to the village being desirable for families. Holmes Chapel Primary School earned an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted, and recent GCSE results from Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School saw 73 per cent of students gaining 5 GCSEs equivalent to A* – C grades including English and maths.

Back to nature

Nestled in the Cheshire countryside, Holmes Chapel is a stone’s throw away from plenty of walks and outdoor leisure activities to help you get back in touch with nature.

If you’re looking for a short walk to get some fresh air, Shakerley Mere is the perfect place and only a five-minute drive away from Bank Farm Grove. A pleasant stroll around the lake, where you can spot a variety of wildlife and even stop for a picnic, will take approximately half an hour.

However, if you are after a more bracing adventure, Boundary Water Park is a popular spot for open water swimming, with temperatures reaching a positively tropical 15°C during the summer.

Locally-owned shops

Despite the easy commute to big cities, Holmes Chapel still retains its small village charm with plenty of original character. The town centre is home to plenty of independent shops, restaurants, bars and other amenities, including farm shops and play centres.

For real ale fans, there’s The Beer Emporium and The Beer Emporium Bottle Bank which was featured in CAMRA’s 2020 Good Beer Guide. The bottle bank has also been able to remain open throughout the COVID pandemic with local delivery services keeping villagers stocked up with award-winning beer and spirits.

Transport links

Sitting a short distance away from the M6, Holmes Chapel acts as an excellent commuter location, with easy access to Manchester, Liverpool and Stoke-on-Trent. The village rail station sits on the Manchester-Crewe line, meaning even London is only a two-hour train journey away.
