How to style your home this autumn

With the nights drawing in and leaves beginning to fall, it’s definitely time to start embracing new seasonal decor trends. We’ve compiled our most manageable tips for transforming your home this autumn.

Layers and contrasts

Colder temperatures call for cosier evenings. Incorporating different layers of materials is the most effective way of transforming unwelcoming spaces into warm and inviting areas. To mix colour with style, pairing draped blankets with textured cushions or styling bolder coloured chunky knits with contrasting furnishings is a fantastic option.

Why not try to incorporate this season’s biggest trend, peacock blue? This bold look can be easily managed by teaming it with softer shades, adding a gentle contrast.

Lighting

Additional lighting is essential for darker nights. Not only is this functional, but it also makes a room feel a lot cosier. Adding warm-toned candles, fairy lights or using lamps rather than ceiling lights can help you achieve a warmer feel.

Add velvet

Known for its flamboyant and luxurious repertoire, velvet is a great statement material to add to your home. If you’re looking to include velvet but are scared of overwhelming your living space, try adding a few velvet cushions in warmer colours like orange, rose or navy. If you’re feeling brave, curtains can really change up the feel of any room.

Dried decorative plants

Incorporating greenery into your home isn’t just a summer trend. In fact, preserved, dried foliage is proving to be popular among interiors influencers this year. Lavender, pampas grass or dried flowers can add a whole new layer of texture to any room.

Top tip: Incorporate seasonal flowers, mixing them with dried plants and pheasant feathers to create a seasonal table centrepiece.

Whether you’re looking to make subtle or extravagant changes to your home this autumn, our tips are a great starting point.
